The Team

Brendon & Katrina first visited Hanmer Springs on their honeymoon travelling around the South Island and they both fell in love with the gorgeous Alpine village, so when the opportunity presented itself to start up a new cafe here - the choice was simple and they moved from Perth to open Salt n Pepper Cafe in December 2017.

Brendon is a qualified chef, born in Dunedin he moved to Sydney to complete his apprenticeship.  He has worked  all around Australia, and he is now enjoying being back in New Zealand, showcasing his culinary talent at Salt n Pepper Cafe.

Katrina has held executive office roles for the majority of her working career, so the opportunity to run a business of their own has been exciting next step.

Salt n Pepper Cafe is a different kind of coffee shop - come and see for yourself. You can find us at the top end of town.

Open 7 days a week from 7am daily, you will arrive to find freshly baked muffins each morning, which match perfectly with our Atomic Coffee beans and Harney Tea selections.


If you fancy something more substantial, our cabinet is full of fresh delights daily and our a la carte menu is extensive.


Enjoy the outdoors with alfresco dining all day, with a priceless view of Conical Hill and beyond, you'll treat your eyes while you feed your hunger and nourish your soul.


Over the summer months Salt n Pepper is also open for dinner 7 nights a week.  A licensed venue, we have a selection of beer on tap including Asahi, and our very own Salt n Pepper Ale plus a 'beer of the month' tap, and Honesty Box Cider. We also have a variety of wines, spirits and soft drinks to choose from.
